Lake Meadows Park

Lake Meadows park features a fishing lake, swimming pool, play area, cafe, skate park, bowls green, tennis courts and regular familyevents through the year including Billericay Fireworks and Park Run.

Facilities

The park (covering 40 acres) is now a prominent local leisure facility and includes playing fields, fishing, coutdoor gym, a bowling green, cafe, tennis courts and children's play area.  The land is also home to a swimming pool and cricket pitch.

Friends of Lake Meadows

A voluntary organisation working with Basildon Council, Billericay Town Council and the Billericay community to promote public interest in the park and help maintain it. You can find out more at https://www.lakemeadows.org.uk/

History of Lake Meadows

Lake Meadows was owned by the Spitty family in the 19th century and they had out-of-work farm labourers dig our the lake with the Billericay District Council taking the inspired decision to buy the land from a subsequent owner and create the beautiful park in 1935.

Events at Lake Meadows

During the course of the year a number of public events are held at the park which can hold up to 5,000 people. Events include the Great Lake Race, Billericay Fireworks (run by the Round Table) and events by The Friends of Lake Meadows, plus other organisations.

Park Run is a popular Saturday event for residents and visitor to the town, providing a free 5k run around the park. Find out more about Billericay Park Run here.

Fishing at Lake Meadows

The fishing at Lake Meadows, together with other Basildon Borough public lakes, is managed by S & A Watercraft

Note there is a 30 member night syndicate running from January to January.

Non-member fishing at Lake Meadows is daytime only from 7am-7pm and the gate does get locked in the evening. Payments are taken in cash

Lake Meadows swimming pool

Operated by First Strokes, the swimming pool at Lake Meadows park spans 25m x 8m (Pool Depth: 0.9m to 1.7m) and has regular classes and open swimming available.

Lake Meadows Cafe

The 'Cafe in the Park' provides a range of hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams and open for selected periods in the year.

Opening times

April 1st until 30th September

  • Monday - Friday 10am -4:30pm,
  • Saturday - Sunday 9:30am - 4:30pm

From 30th September until 31st October

  • Saturday and Sunday only.

Opening outside these times will be dependant on the weather
