Artilce by Active Essex: On Friday 9th January, schools from across Essex competed in the Essex Dodgeball finals at Southend Leisure centre.
After introducing the sport into the calendar two years ago it has proven to be very popular, with schools having teams made up of non-sporty to semi-sporty pupils and Essex having 15 teams participating representing school sports partnerships.
These teams all battled it out using the 5 D’s (Dodge, Dive, Dip, Duck & Dodge) to try and win the tournament. Spirit the School Games Mascot was present to carefully watch every shot.
The finals saw Buttsbury Junior School compete against Earls Hall. The finals were quick paced and exciting with Buttsbury dodging Earls Hall to win 2-0 and sealing Gold. In the play off for Bronze RA Butler beat Ingrave Johnstone on a tight match to claim the medal.
