Article by The Echo: An accountant has admitted defrauding almost £600,000 from a company set up by X Factor winner James Arthur.
Mark Livermore, of Second Avenue in Billericay, was a long-term employee of Raff Music Ltd and transferred funds from the company into other bank accounts without the knowledge or permission of Mr Arthur, Westminster Magistrates' Court heard.
Prosecutor Misba Majid said the 39-year-old drained the company of a total of £599,000 before his fraud was uncovered in April of this year.
Livermore pleaded guilty to one count of fraud by abuse of position on or before April 2018 when he appeared in court today.
Ms Majid said the offence involved a significant degree of planning and was carried out over a long period of time.
Livermore was granted unconditional bail until his sentencing at Southwark Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
Chairwoman of the bench Diane Lennan said:
"The matter is so serious because it is an abuse of position over a substantial period of time."
Mr Arthur, from Middlesbrough, won the X Factor in 2012 and has had hits including Impossible and You're Nobody til Somebody Loves You.
