To be in with a chance of winning a free bag of compost, Basildon Council is encouraging residents to register their interest for a Compost Giveaway Prize Draw.

There have been two hugely popular compost giveaways in the past to show residents what becomes of their food and green waste recycling. This time, residents will need to register their interest and will be randomly selected and then invited to collect their two free bags of compost.
On previous occasions, the response to the compost giveaways has been overwhelming. If we can use the giveaways to show residents the importance and benefits of recycling their green and food waste then that’s great. This time we’ve tried to make it as fair as possible by encouraging people to register their interest and then selecting people at random. I hope that everyone who signs up already recycles their green and food waste and encourage others to do the same.
Residents who would like to register their interest must email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  with their name and full address (including postcode) by 5pm on Friday, 13th May 2011.

Those who have been successfully selected will then receive an invitation to collect their free bag of compost, as well as details of when the event will take place.
