John Baron holds anniversary cake

The Noah's Ark pre-school in Billericay celebrated its tenth birthday with a visit from the town's MP John Baron.

Staff and pupils at Noah's Ark Pre-School, in Mill Hill Drive, welcomed the Tory politician on Friday. Mr Baron, MP for the town since 2001, has a special connection with Noah's Ark, having helped to set it up a decade ago.

The pre-school marked its anniversary with visits from pupils past and present from local schools – with plenty of cake and party games on offer.

Manager Theresa Bay told the Gazette:

John Baron attended and so did four former pupils from Mayflower High School, Billericay and four former pupils from Buttsbury Junior School and Buttsbury Infant School. He helped set up the school when there was trouble getting funding in 2002 to 2003.
He put the plans in place for the school to get off the ground and so he has a very special connection with it. It wouldn't be here without him. He came to the official opening of the school so it was really nice to have him at the anniversary.

It was very kind of Noah's Ark Pre-School to invite me back for the anniversary. At the event I spoke to the children and participated in a dancing competition. It was great to spend some time there and to see the school doing so well. Since helping start up the school ten years ago I do visit from time to time but it was good to come back to this special event." Congratulations to Theresa and the whole team on their 10th anniversary – the marvellous cake was enjoyed by all. We wish them the best for the next ten years.
