Work is taking place this week to improve the drainage and prevent flooding in Lake Meadows Park, Billericay.
Following the near completion of a £60,000 project to improve the Lake Meadows paths, additional work has been taking place this week to resolve an issue with drainage at the Western end of the park.
Conducted by contractor Southmay, the work taking place close to the skate park will see a number of drains replaced which will much reduce the risk of flooding.

Due to the roots of the trees causing damage to the drains this area next to the skate park is prone to flooding during heavy rain. Obviously this has an impact on access to that area and is also a health and safety issue. The work being done by Southmay will see new drains put in that can’t be broken by tree roots and although this will not be visible to the public it is a very important improvement to the park.[/quote]
The work is due to be completed over the next two weeks.
