Statistics gained by the Brentwood Gazette from a freedom of information request reveal data on the number of unauthorised absences that have been recorded from Billericay schools.

In total children from The Billericay School and Mayflower High School took a total of 2,208 number of days off without authorisation.

 The data request also made information available about other schools in the local area. Bromfords, Shenfield High and Brentwood County High had the highest levels in the 2012/2013 year.

Mayflower High School

  • Number of students: 1,220
  • Authorised absence: 7,355
  • Unauthorised absence: 1,030

The Billericay School

  • Number of students: 1,419
  • Authorised absence: 10,820
  • Unauthorised absence: 1,178
