A nursery in Billericay has been temporarily shut down and a woman arrested after concerns over the treatment of children in its care.
Parents with children who attend Abacus Day Nursery in Orchard Avenue are currently being contacted by Essex Police detectives, who are working with Essex County Council social services.
There have been no allegations of sexual abuse, police said.
Abacus was rated 'good' by Ofsted in 2012.
