Article by Guy Bell: A former Mayflower High student is taking legal action against her old school, eight years after she claims she was injured in a "piggy back incident".
The student, who the Gazette has chosen not to name, says she was hurt during rehearsals for a production of the hit musical Annie in November 2006 while attending the school in Stock Road.
She is now looking to be compensated for the alleged incident almost ten years on.
A solicitor employed by Essex County Council – the authority responsible for the school – has sent a letter to all former pupils appealing for information.

The claim relates to an alleged incident on or around November 14, 2006, possibly during, or before, auditions/rehearsals for the school production of Annie. The claimant says that she was injured during a 'piggyback' incident with another pupil. As the incident was eight years ago, we have very little information. For this reason we are writing to all pupils who were at the school in November 2006. We are interested in speaking with anyone who took part in the production of Annie, helped with the production, attended any auditions/rehearsals or witnessed a 'piggyback' incident. If you have no recollection of an incident or were not involved in the Annie production, we do not need to hear from you and there is no need to reply to this letter.[/quote]
