Students enjoying the new facilities

Article by Nicola Taylor: An ageing demountable classroom at a school in Billericay has been replaced by a state-of-the-art £400,000 extension.

The new rooms at Buttsbury Junior School, in Norsey View Drive, were officially opened by the town's MP, John Baron.

Cutting the ribbon as teachers, pupils, governors and invited guests looked on.
We were delighted John Baron could officially open our new learning resource centre. We have three light and spacious group rooms, which are used all the time by teachers and children and provide a motivational area to work in. We also have a new dedicated office for our inclusion manager as well as vastly improved storage space. In addition, we have a brand new ICT Suite and two classes were also extended as part of the project. We are very proud of our new building and would like to thank everyone who played a role.
The building was funded largely by the Department for Education.

But the school also contributed 10 per cent to the overall cost.
