Article by Emma Robinson: A 20-year-old man has needed surgery in hospital following a vicious assault at a nightclub in Billericay.

Jack Daniels, from Wickford, was punched in the jaw in an apparently unprovoked attack at Reids nightclub in Laindon Road last night.

Following the attack, which left him with a smashed jaw, broken teeth and bleeding gums, staff at the bar drove him to Basildon Hospital.

He was later transferred to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford for specialist treatment.

His family say that he might lose his teeth.
