Article by Mark Richardson: A Billericay teenager brought the community together to be in a charity selfie today (Saturday), raising over £700 for the local homeless this Christmas.
Mayflower sixth form student Liam Scott, 18, was joined by 30 others at Burstead Golf Club who all donated to be in the selfie, with all money going towards Homeless UK: Basildon Resource Centre.
One of these included Peter Vine of Billericay Round Table, who donated £250 on behalf of the organisation for what he described as “a great idea to help the homeless and make sure they don’t get forgotten.”
Liam, who received the Jack Petchey award for his efforts from his school, said:

It will definitely give more homeless people a better Christmas than they would have had and the money will definitely go a long way with the team at the Resource Centre.[/quote]
Perry Childs, a trustee of Basildon Resource Centre added his thanks to Liam, saying:
