Police line do not cross

Article by Libby Mcbride: Part of a Billericay road was sealed off by police this morning (Saturday, September 24) following a sexual assault.

A green on Archers Close was sealed off with police tape and a forensic van was there.

Officers were called to the scene just before 1.40 am today after reports of a disturbance involving a man and a woman. Witnesses reported seeing two men leaving the area shortly after.

Officers attended and found a woman who was distressed and who they believe was the victim of a sexual assault.

The green, which is opposite Reid's Bar and Restaurant, was completely cordoned off.

The resident said there has been less trouble in the area since Ivory Rooms became Reid's.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Basildon CID on 101.

Police particularly want to identify the two men seen leaving the area and are appealing for them to come forward.
