Police line do not cross

Article by Piers Meyler: A 28-year-old man from Billericay has been arrested on suspicion of possessing firearms with intent following an armed police bust in the town.

He was among three men who were detained on suspicion of drugs offences after armed police swooped onto Valley Road shortly before 6pm yesterday (Tuesday, October 25).

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, possession of class A drugs with intent to supply and possession of drugs other than class A with intent to supply.

A car was stopped in Valley Road a short time later and a quantity of drugs were found.

A 26-year-old man from Billericay was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply and supplying a controlled drug.

A 24-year-old man from Wickford was arrested in London Road, Wickford, at about 6.20pm on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.

All are in custody awaiting questioning and enquiries are ongoing.

A forensics van, dog unit and several unmarked cars could be seen in Hillside Road parked outside a set of houses.

A resident said he saw someone being led away from one of the houses with a face mask on.
