Article by Brian Jeeves: Billericay Town Ladies manager, Kim Coster, was satisfied with her side’s display as they made Essex County Cup progress with a 3-1 victory over Brentwood Town Ladies at New Lodge.
Speaking to Yellow Sport after the quarter-final tie, Coster said:
We knew we had to put on a strong display and that’s what we did. All the players were up for the game, this was evident in their performance. the first forty-five minutes was superb, we took our chances well. In the second period, we did a job and were rewarded with a place in the semi-final.
Paris Smith gave Town a twelfth-minute advantage with a neat lob, then Rosi Webb doubled the advantage with a low drive shortly before the half-hour mark.
Kirsty Knight made it 3-0 before the break with a fierce shot high into the Brentwood net. And though the visitors refused to throw in the towel, Town keeper, Robyn Strauss kept them at bay with a string of good stops.
Brentwood did reduce the arrears with the quarter of an hour remaining, while only a late penalty miss thwarted the visitors attempts to claw the deficit back further.
