Anisha Grange Care Home in Billericay, has been awarded Best Celebration on the Day at the annual Hallmark in Bloom gardening competition.
The home, which offers residential, dementia and nursing care was praised for its use of outdoor space and their celebrations on the judging day at the care provider’s company-wide event.
The home celebrated their judging day by throwing a 1950’s-inspired party complete with costumes, musical entertainment from Tim Packman and plenty of themed food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.
The Hallmark in Bloom competition first established in 2003, encourages residents and the local community to get involved in gardening, be it by planting pots or simply sitting in the garden and joining in with the conversation.
Customer Relationship Manager at Anisha Grange, Sara Tupper said: “It was such a fantastic day and it feels amazing that the hard work of the team and residents at Anisha Grange has been recognised.
“We wanted to throw a big party that not only showed off our beautiful gardens, but showed the judges how much fun every resident, team member and visitor has when they come to our home. Our 1950’s-inspired party was a huge success and I am delighted that the judges had as much fun as we did!”
A panel of judges from Hallmark Care Homes and gardening charity Thrive visited the home last month along with 14 other Hallmark Care homes across England and Wales before coming to their decision.
Entrants were judged on resident and community involvement in the lead up to and on the judging day, best recording of gardening activities, visual appeal, and use of fresh produce in the home.
Damien Newman, Training, Education and Consultancy Manager for Thrive said:
“It would seem all the residents were outside given the numbers enjoying the gardens on the Hallmark in Bloom judging day! The garden was awash with activity and everyone was joining in, using events to connect the home to as many friends and family as possible, providing social inclusion for the residents. Good food and entertainment always makes a successful celebration and we saw family, friends, lots of children and even the Town Crier all having a fabulous day!”
