Article by Yellow Advertiser: Seven fire crews were scrambled to a late-night blaze in Billericay, in the early hours of Tuesday, October 24.
The Essex fire service was called to Wiggins Lane at one minute past midnight, reports of a fire in an 800-square-metre ’commercial outbuilding’.
The first firefighters on the scene reported the building – used for storage – was ’completely on fire’.
It was thought to contain a car, in addition to cylinders and fuel.
The first crew requested back-up, prompting six extra crews – from Basildon, Wickford, Orsett, Rayleigh and Chelmsford – to race to the scene to help.
There was a ’poor water supply’ close to the blaze, said the fire service, so a large tanker of water was sent to the scene, in addition to the fire crews.
The blaze was under control by 2am and extinguished by 3.20am.
A fire service spokesman said an investigation would be carried out to determine the cause.
