Article by Brad Gray: Another Argos store is closing down in Essex. The Billericay branch has been open on the high street for more than a decade.

It's not yet known when the store's official last day will be, but it has been confirmed that those currently working at the shop have been offered roles elsewhere within the company.

A spokesperson for Argos said:

"Our Argos Billericay store is closing and all of our colleagues have been offered the opportunity to redeploy to our nearby stores."

The nearest locations to Billericay's Argos are the locations in Basildon town centre and Basildon's Pipps Hill retail park.

Sainsbury's bought out the catalogue retailer in April 2016, which led to high street locations being moved inside supermarkets across the county including in Brentwood and Chelmsford.

In 2019, Argos announced that 70 Argos branches would close across the country as part of a cost-cutting scheme which aimed to save £500 million.
