Article by Chris Phillips: Scott Chickelday is setting his sights high after being named as Billericay Town ladies side’s new manager.

The 44-year-old, who has previously coached at Tottenham Hotspur and QPR, arrives at New Lodge after previous boss Kim Coster became the club’s head of women’s football. And Chickelday jumped at the chance to team up with Town.

“It really appealed to me because it’s a big club,” said Chickelday.

“They had an unbelievable run in the FA Cup last season and were doing really well in the league before it came to an unfortunate end. They also try to bring younger players through into the team which also appeals to me so it was an easy decision really. I can’t wait to work alongside Kim and the first target is to win the league.”

But Chickelday’s ambitions do not end there.

“The ultimate aim is to get the club into the WSL,” said Chickelday. “There’s why we want to get a good mix of young and experienced players.”

And Chickelday will also be bringing plenty of experience to the club.

“I was at Tottenham for 10 years in the academy system and had a couple of years with QPR,” said Chickelday. “After that I started up my own player specific platform up. I work with a lot of young pro’s and scholars on a one to one basis and I’ll keep doing that alongside the role at Billericay so it’s an exciting time.”
