Article by Mel King: A boy has been taken to hospital after a sledging incident in an Essex woods.

Six ambulance vehicles attended the incident in Norsey Woods, Billericay on Sunday.

East of England Ambulance Service responded to calls that a boy was injured while sledging.

Local residents walking in the area spotted the vehicles parked in the car park of the woods as they tended to the boy.

Attending the incident was one ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and four Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) vehicles, who provide paramedic care within 'hazardous' environments, such as unstable terrain.

The boy who was injured in the accident was taken to hospital for further treatment.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said:

"An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and four Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles were called to wood near Outwood Common Road, Billericay on Saturday (Jan 16) following reports of a boy injured in a sledging incident. One patient was transported to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for further assessment and care."
