Visitor Centre and facilities

History

Norsey Wood has a fascinating history that spans centuries. The wood has been managed by the Basildon District Council since 1986. Its origins can be traced back to the medieval period when it was part of a larger forest called Hainault Forest. Today, Norsey Wood stands as a protected area, preserving its natural beauty and providing a sanctuary for wildlife.

Opening Times

Norsey Wood is open to the public throughout the year. The reserve follows the following opening times:

• Summer (April to September): 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
• Winter (October to March): 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
